I have been interested in beautiful show horses for
about 30 years now and to my mind the greatest improvement in quality comes from the
ponies. The influence of the infusion of Riding Pony blood has been profound and
these exquisite creatures mostly move like small dressage horses - but more beautiful.
There is a great deal of
excitement as the EFA plans to introduce more classes for Pony Dressage - and I can see
that many dressage enthusiasts will become enthused by these smaller performers.
There is a lot of controversy
about whether or not the riders should be restricted to children. While I dislike
the look of a large adult on a smaller mount, I also think that many smaller women riders
enjoy the suitability of a pony and would love the challenge of training it to a high
level of dressage. I might even take on a pony!!.
The quality of the top ten Large
Newcomer Ponies was outstanding and I am sure these ponies would hold their own ...
anywhere in the world. This class was held in the middle of the day, with the sun
right overhead, which explains the hazey quality of the pictures. |
