Competition of the Winners, 2009...
The competition of the winners is an important show, hosting The Rider Tour for the show jumpers. The Grand Final of the Medien Cup for the dressage competitors and several young horse classes which are utilized as a last dress rehearsal before the Bundeschampionate in September.
A little like Wiesbaden, this show arena also boasts a castle as its backdrop. The 90m x 60m dual purpose arena lies in front of the Prince Bishop's Castle in the Westphalian town of Münster. The castle was built in 1767 for the Prince-Bishop of Münster. Since 1954 it has been the home of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität. On show days it provides a spectacular location for what is a very important event on the competition calendar. The arena changes from the 20x60 dressage arena into a grand prix jumping circuit and as daylight fades, the lights are turned on for the spectacular action packed nights, filled with top quality horse sports.
With summer weather forecasted for the duration of the show, the show organisers are expecting a crowd of around 25,000 visitors over the four days.
Australia has one representative in the CSI4* show jumping, James Paterson-Robinson. He is listed to ride Lanosso, Chester Cable, Niack de L’Abbaye and Chet-Bull Z. I will keep you posted…
