The 4 & 5 YO Young Horse Preliminary rounds were held on the beautiful Olympic arena, it was a magnificent setting.

| | Horse | 1st Qualifying Round |
11 | Kate Joyce | Jaybee Concorde | 33.700 | 6.740 | 11 |
| J & B Edwards | G/1/ Brn/17.2/ AUS/HANN | | | |
| |
Jaybee Concorde is a lovely type and shows his dad's beautiful swinging trot - with just a little more polish in his work he will take his rightful place at the top end of the line-up. He is a very tall horse and his rider would be careful not to push him just for a blue ribbon - wise!!! |
12 | Sharron Power | Coldstream Dante | 33.400 | 6.680 | 12 |
| Coldstream Park | G/1/ Blk/16.3/ AUS/WB | | | |
| |
Bred by Victorian Wendy Ansell and by Coldstream Vienna - this is another horse that is huge and still immature - I am sure he is here for the experience and fun. |
13 | Alexandra Berns | Jaybee Coco | 33.300 | 6.660 | 13 |
| J & B Edwards | M/2/ Blk/16.2/ AUS/wm | | | |
| |
Jaybee Coco was one I had marked in my little black book. I have been told about Coco's beautiful loose movement and feminine good looks. The elegant black mare has loads of potential, but is definitely not mature enough to look her best as a 4 YO. She is owned ridden by Alex Berns who has had a sensational year and will be heading off to Germany as part of he prize for winning the prestigious Aachen Challenge in Victoria in March. Well done Alex. I am sure you will be looking forward to coming home to your gorgeous 5 year old and we eagerly await her future achievements. |
14 | Lizzie Wilson-Fellows | APH Snippet | 33.000 | 6.600 | 14 |
| APH Stud | G/0/ Brn/17.2/ AUS/WB | | | |
| |
APH Snippet by Lubek from a Koenigsberg mare. At 17.2 Snippet is another that struggled to find the balance and development of his more petite rivals. An experienced trainer like Lizzie Wilson-Fellows will not be disappointed as she knows that it would be unwise to push this giant, he needs more time. He shows great potential and is one to watch. |
15 | Sarah Sutherland | Adloo Roberto | 32.700 | 6.540 | 15 |
| Peter Jenkyn | G/1/ Ch/16.1/ AUS/WB | | | |
| |
Bred by Di and Peter Jenkyn this lovely chestnut is another by Rotspon. Many Aussie enthusiasts are keen on this stallion and Roberto is a very nice type. He is owned by Kay Sutherland and is ridden by her daughter Sarah. Good luck! |
15 | Alexandra Bruggisser | Capricio | 32.700 | 6.540 | 15 |
| D. Larsen,P.Potter, J. | G/1/ Bay/16.3/ AUS/TB | | | |
| |
Capricio is a lovely type of Australian Thoroughbred. He was nicely ridden by his owner Alex Bruggisser and I am sure she has a great time and valued the experience. It was nice to see the TB represented and he has the talent to train on and improve. |
17 | Shaun France | Wolfingham Jalapeno | 32.500 | 6.500 | 17 |
| Wolfingham Warmblood Stud | G/3/ Ch/17/ AUS/WB | | | |
Sorry I missed this horse. |
18 | Caroline Coleby | Jaybee Don Grande | 32.000 | 6.400 | 18 |
| Jaybee Stud | S/2/ Ch/16.1/ AUS/WB | | | |
| |
Jaybee Don Grande (Rudolf to his friends) is definitely an example of a late maturing youngster. Rudolf is beautifully bred by Don Schufro and from the imported mar Gloria (Glorieaux, also the dam of Jaybee Alabaster) He has only been broken a shot time. He was virtually unbeaten as a young led horse and is sure to regain form as he develops the strength to do so and comes up in the wither. He is owned by the Don Grande Syndicate and is part owned and ridden by Victorian, Caroline Coleby. |
18 | Emma Armstrong | Greenoaks Weltman | 32.000 | 6.400 | 18 |
| Clyde Wunderwald | S/1/ Bay/16.3/ AUS/WB | | | |
| |
Greenoaks Weltman won the 4 YO class at Dressage with the Stars back in November so is capable of a much better result than we saw here today. The scopey youngster is by Man About Town from the imported Weltmeyer mare Greenoaks Weserfee. Emma Armstrong rode him well (perhaps her hands got a little high and this spoiled the picture) and I am sue they will be in the winners circle again. Emma impressed many with her riding of the auction horses at Auction of the Stars sales, I look forward to seeing her in action at the AEA on the 28th of May. |
20 | Nicole Newton | Jaegermeister | 30.000 | 6.000 | 20 |
| Gisela Nilsson Harding | G/1/ /16/ AUS/QtrX | | | |
| |
This leggy grey is unusually bred for a Dressage horse being by the Quarter horse stallion, Pistol Roc. He will improve greatly with a little more condition and muscle tone. He was ridden by his owner Nicole Newton - good luck. |
