Remi Stud's Annual Open Day Report - Page 8
The afternoon session consisted of mare classifications. Hans is involved in the Young Breeders Program in Verden and was kind enough to show two young handlers, Kaitlin and Alex, what one should be looking for when judging confirmation and gaits. This generosity is typical of Hans' kindness and willingness to help and teach others. In fact, Hans' son, Hannes has won many accolades for breeding and presenting horses including winning the German Champion of Young breeders Award no less than three times thereby demonstrating his own knowledge of horses and his ability in presenting them. Hannes also plays an integral part in Hof-Bruening and is considered one of the brightest talents in Hanoverian breeding. It is hoped that Hannes will come to Australia next year to train and educate our young enthusiasts in the art of training and handling Hanoverian horses for showing.

Happy to impart his extensive knowledge of horses, Hans was also keen to help the audience understand what he was looking for and made sure to stop and explain what he saw and why he gave the marks he did. He said when judging a horse he looks at the head, neck, withers, saddle position, frame, front legs and hind legs. The scores are then averaged and then he considers the breed type, sex type (femininity/masculinity), the walk, the swing and elasticity in the trot and the canter.

Mares presented for classification included:

No. 18 - Bella Nan xx (Spanish Attraction xx/Fofolle xx (by Our Poetic Prince)). 4 year old mare in foal to Wyndemere (imp) - owned by Sharon Cox.

No. 19. - Jaybee Desiree (Don Schufro/Gloria (imp) by Glorieux). 3 year old mare owned by John & Bev Edwards of Jaybee Stud. This mare was in the Mare Performance Test the following day and scored high enough to be a Premium Mare Candidate. Hans noted this mare as being "an excellent type".

No. 20 - Attitude (Anamour (imp)/Wild Party xx). 3 year old mare in foal to Fishermans Friend (imp). Owned by Gordon Uechtritz.

No. 21 - UQ Amour Lily (Anamour (imp)/UQ Whispering Lily by Winterkoenig). 4 year old mare. Owned by Misty Bienke.
