We were then treated to a presentation of the
superb 8 year-old dark brown stallion Fishermans Friend (imp) (http://www.rrstud.com/)
who is owned in partnership by Remi Stud and Ribbleton Warmbloods. Fishermans
Friend has just arrived in Australia from the Hanoverian State Celle Stud in
Germany.
He scored 9 Canter, 8.67 Trot, 8.67 Walk, 9
Character, 8 Rideability, 9 Cross Country, and 8.67 Free Jumping in his
Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf. He was leader of the Celle Dressage Quadrille
in 2003 and 2004 and selected in the top 5% German Equestrian Federation Index
2005 for dressage stallions with only one crop of foals under saddle! He beat
Sandro Hit, Rubinstein and Davignon, to name but a few. This Breeding Value is
an indicator for performance inheritability of a sire.
Fishermans Friend's Sire Fabriano (Wendulan) was
the Champion of his 100-Day Performance Test. Fabriano has an outstanding 14
Approved Sons and 93 State Premium Mares (SPS). Fishermans Friend is out of the
mare Penny Lane by Pik Solo (Pik Bube/SPS Fortuna).
Fishermans Friend certainly put on an
athletic and awesome display. Along with his stunning movement and powerful,
masculine build, I was very impressed with his temperament and gentlemanly
disposition. Hans commented that at first he was concerned about letting a
stallion run free when there were so many mares about, and even though 'Fish'
did "put on a show", he made no attempt to leap the fence and was just happy to
strut his stuff. I can't wait to see him under saddle! No doubt Ribbleton Remi
Stud will be receiving lots of enquiries from discerning mare owners.
