Remi Stud's Annual Open Day Report - Page 5

No. 14 was Remi Beelzebub, a 2 1/2 month old colt by Brentano II from Elite Mare Remi Waltzing Matilda (Walt Disney/Surabaya xx) Owned by Cheryl O'Brien.

Hans' comments: "An excellent colt out of an excellent mare. I like this type of mare very much and she is an asset to Australian breeding. The foal has an elastic trot and will make a top dressage horse. This is the second real stallion prospect I've seen so far today."

This is high praise from expert classifier Hans and as this colt is for sale, this gives someone the opportunity to get their hands on a top stallion material. Hans also told us he looks at the first three steps in trot, making sure they come well off the ground as this bodes well for the gait.

Last foal for registration was No. 15, Remi Lady Marmalade, a 3 1/2 month old dark brown filly by Londonderry (Ger) from Remi Wyndham (Winterkoenig/Bassies Sister xx by Rancher xx) - owned by Cheryl O'Brien.

Hans' comments: "The gaits are above average which are loose and elastic. I congratulate you for breeding this brown Londonderry filly instead of the many chestnuts he produces. I think she is outstanding."

Hans concluded the foal registrations by saying there was a very high level of foals presented to him today and he was very pleased to see this. He said to me that, "The mare contributes more than 50% to the foal and it is very important to produce foals from good, quality mares. Also, go for the best stallions you possibly can. When I look for a stallion for my mares I go for well-known stallions that are out there competing. There are 250 stallions that are registered but I choose 6-10 stallions that I think are suitable for my mares."

The top three fillies and top three colts were then announced by Hans to be reshown to compete for Champion filly foal and Champion colt foal.

The colts Hans chose were:
No. 5 - Remi Prince Charming, the Prince Noir colt from Remi Abracadabra
No. 7 - Remi Westminster, the Weltmeyer colt from Remi London Belle
No. 14 - Remi Beelzebub, the Brentano II colt from Remi Waltzing Matilda

With Champion Colt foal going to Remi Westminster. Congratulations to Cheryl O'Brien.

The fillies chosen were:
No. 2 - Jaybee Lady Sinclair, the filly by Lord Sinclair from Gloria
No. 10 - Remi Sunset Boulevard, the Sandro hit filly from Broadway Razzamatazz
No. 15 - Remi Lady Marmalade, the Londonderry filly from Remi Wyndham

With Champion filly foal going to Remi Sunset Boulevard. Congratulations to Denise Smith and Cheryl O'Brien.
