ISSA Is a very progressive breeding group and
recognises that many different breeds and types go to make a useful Australian performance
horse. The Studbook has been set up to provide the organisational support for the
breeders and a register for the bloodlines of these horses. Unlike some other breed
organisations, they have chosen not pass or fail Colts which are presented for
classification/assessment.
The ISSA Assessment is done by
three very qualified and experienced 'horse people' who inspect the horse both standing
and moving, and mark it according to their pre-defined standards. The horse may also
be assessed free jumping. The marks are recorded on the horse's papers. The
owners can stand the horse at stud and/or cover their own mares. This then allows
the 'market forces to determine the success and commercial viability of the
stallion.
After many years of observing
the problems that a 'pass or fail' approach has caused - ISSA felt that this way was the
fairest way and less likely to cause bad will and lack of unity. The system allows a
breeder the freedom to follow their own unique plan to breed the 'perfect performance
horse'

The stallion parade was a mix of
types and bloodlines - and all of the stallions had something to offer mare owners.
All of the stallions were very well presented. Some were ridden whilst other were
shown in hand. I have features them in the order that they were presented. |
