Highbury - the lovely grey owned by Misses S & JA Barnett and ridden by
Joanne.I saw this horse in his first season in
the ring and Joanne must be commended for the great job she has done with his education
and development into one of the State's leading Hacks. |
|
Highbury did every thing that he
was asked to do and Joanne would have been very pleased to have made it through to the
final 10. There were about 70 horses nominated
for this class. |
|
Erte needs no introduction to
Australian Show enthusiasts - for there is hardly a Royal Show title that he has not won. He was the 2001 VASA Champion Saddle Horse, he was ridden by Maree
Tomkinson who also rode him today. |
|
Maree has formed a bond with the
horse and with their great rapport they were able to produce a 'foot perfect'
workout that seemed to have the crowd holding their breath. |
|
Erte was stunning, so light, so
expressive and very well ridden. |
|
When they finished their display,
I am sure everyone would have had the same thought as me ... what would it take to beat
that ??? |
|
Next to go was Kate Hassell (who
was earlier awarded the Supreme Champion Rider under 16 years) on the very well performed
horse Loyalty. |
|
Kate has taken over the ride on
Loyalty in the past season and the horse has been very successful for his previous owner
Dianne Barnes. |
|
Loyalty did not work his best,
and I am sure the heat was getting to Kate. She
would have gained a great deal from this experience and did very well to make it through
to final ten at her tender age. |
