2007 Queensland Festival of Dressage Fashion Parade
Report by Tracy Mayhew, Qld Cyberhorse Rep
Media whizz, Keran Ainslie not only did the pre-event publicity for the Festival but also put the Fashion Parade together almost single-handedly. She did an absolutely brilliant job compering the event like it was a Parisian haute-couture affair with great class and style. This lunchtime interlude was very popular with the crowd and drew a lot of interest. Keran Ainslie, fashion expert and tireless worker Catching up with Keran a few days later, she told me how she got involved and now that it's all over, how she feels the Festival went, "I kind of recall being dragged, kicking and screaming into it! No, seriously, for me it’s my way of contributing to the sport I love. There is a serious need for dressage to be promoted with enthusiasm and ENERGY and I saw the Festival as a perfect opportunity to show what can be achieved when a bit of passion is applied. Participation needs to be encouraged through all levels and if we all do our little bit to volunteer our time or experience, the sport will grow in leaps and bounds." "We knew we had a winning formula with this Festival, but I was personally overwhelmed with the positive energy the day experienced right from the start. The most rewarding experience, for me, was to see how much the entire day was absorbed and genuinely enjoyed by the spectators – from the ridden demonstrations, to the seminar presentations, to the awesome shopping in the Trade Village. Most importantly, the positive reactions of our sponsors and their enthusiasm to be a part of future Festivals was by far the best gauge of our success. Keran concluded by saying, "I think it’s significant to point out that the 2007 QLD Festival of Dressage was a resounding success, not due to big budgets or input from event professionals…because there wasn’t any… but due to the commitment and passion shared by a group of like-minded people to share their depth of knowledge and experience. Overall, an extremely rewarding experience!"
