Jaybee Don Grande-
Caroline Coleby and the Jaybee Don Grande Syndicate.
Jaybee Don Grande is certainly
cone of my favourite horses ... and I was looking forward to seeing him
come up for his Colt Classification. I think of him almost every
day, as on my office wall I have a stunning picture of
Glorieux
(his dam's sire) and I marvel that we now have these fantastic bloodlines
available to breeders in Australia. You will see by his illustrious
pedigree, this 3 YO colt has a depth of breeding which ranks him
very highly on paper ... you could not go past what he offers the
serious breeder looking for a world class Dressage horse.
The
ownership of Jaybee Don Grande breaks new ground in the Australian
performance industry as he is owned by a group of 'like minded'
enthusiasts who have formed a syndicate to share in the pleasure of owning
a top line horse. Syndications are common in the racing industry,
and the concept is a great way for friends to get together and share a
common interest.
Jaybee
Don Grande has been out under saddle in the past few months and always
behaves like a gentleman. He has been very well trained by an expert
- Caroline Coleby, who is an A Level Dressage judge, a well respected
equestrian coach and also an FEI rider. Caroline understands that a
horse must have respect for his rider and handler and this is particularly
true of a stallion.
In a perfect world, Caroline's
undisputed attention to detail would mean a perfect workout and all aims
achieved for her and Jaybee Don
Grande. However, the young stallion did not show the classifiers the
maturity they were hoping to see and was inattentive in his free work
which caused him to disunite in the canter.
It is a
difficult call ... The Classifiers must be able to award an average of 70%
in all aspects of this assessment and cannot allow probabilities or
previous sightings or experiences influence them. I can understand
this and felt very sorry for Caroline as I know that this is not something
that is a fault - I have watched "Rudolf" on numerous occasions and he is
always as clean and correct in his movement as one could wish . I
truly hope that we see this lovely boy present in a years time when he is
a little more experienced, as it would be a great tragedy if he did not
join the list of AWHA stallions at stud.

Grande - a modern type with
beautiful flowing movement and good looks!
