Peter Heagney did a very good
job to keep the sale moving along whilst coaxing bids that he felt were
still out there!It was
a great achievement to have all of the horses but one lot, sell.
I feel that the realistic reserves, the quality of the horses, along
with good promotion and the promise of a great day out made the perfect
combination for a very successful horse sale.
Peter Heagney asks ... are you all done???
I can feel it happening ...
this sale will create the same impact as the 'Lochinvar' sale did around
about decade ago. The Lochinvar sale was a 'must' for performance
horse enthusiasts and was conducted at the NSW Equestrian Centre when
auctioneer Bob Mitchell was the owner.
The centre is managed by
Heath and Rozzie Ryan and the more recent owners have dropped the sale
from their annual activities.
Many people try to run horse
sales and very few succeed in meeting the reserves. It is a
special mix of vision, organisational skill, people management, horse care
and training, horse breeding and of course the right property ... which
make up the recipe for success. With many years experience behind
this sale, Belinda and Axel have shown us all their special skills and
their high level of professionalism - well done guys!

Lot 9 the charming Crispin born
on the 26/10/03. By Capone from Belcam Avenue by the Aachen stallion
Belcam Aalto. I had him tagged in my catalogue as a "Santa request'
as he reminds me of wonderful Hollybrook Boston my similarly marked Grand
Prix horse. Crispin's up in front conformation and perky 'look at
me' attitude is very appealing. The dam line has a proven Dressage
performer with Queensland's talented young rider Kelly Layne, who won the
Grand Prix Special at the recent Australian Dressage Championships riding
the talented imported gelding - Amouchier (pictured below)
Kerryn would have been thrilled
to have purchased such an outstanding quality colt for $8.000 - I
told you the reserves were realistic!!

Crispin has all the qualities to
make a top FEI dressage horse. |
Crispin goes home with Kerryn Connors to join his full brother. who was
purchased in 2003. |
Chiquita |
even in poor light she looks good. |
Above - Lot 10 is the lovely Contango ll filly Chiquita who was foaled on
05/12/03.
This
filly has great bloodlines and her dam is by Sterling Liberty who has
sired some of Australia's leading Dressage horses - Snowy River Blackwood
is probably the best known. Blackwood has a full brother in
Queensland who is also a star - Snowy River Redwood owned by Jacqueline
Lok. Chiquita sold for $11,500 and will be worth her weight
as a riding horse or possibly later a very valuable brood mare with much
sought after and proven lines. Her buyer wa a pretty as the horse
... Shannon Glanville (right) from Lower Plenty, who beamed with
joy.

star! |

Capone shows his sense of fun and adventure! He
seemed to know that the crowd would appreciate some 'airs above the ground'!
Axel explained to him that they were not necessary, or appropriate ...
Capone immediately settled and resumed his wonderful in hand performance at
the commencement of the sale - what a stallion! |
Mark Dolahentey was the 'doorman' for the day and was
great at encouraging the youngsters inside. Sounds quite easy,
but Mark demonstrated exceptional horse handling and horse psychology
skills, as the youngsters could have been frightened if not handled the
correct way ... and encouraged! |

Kelly Jansen kept the horses on track. |

Above - Lot 11, Kentucky
(born 26/09/02) by Capone and from the mare Belcam Janita by he
imported stallion Jaguar. Jaguar was exported to New Zealand before
he achieved due respect in Australia ... that came later when the
(then) Australian National Dressage Coach, Clemens Dierks bought back the
young gelding Jahnus, from one of his OS training trips.
Jahnus showed outstanding
balance and talent in his early work with Judy Dierks and was later
purchased by talented Australian dressage rider Emma Youngman.
Jahnus was sold after a glittering few years with Emma ... and is
pictured below with his new rider Claire Wickens from NSW at the 2003
National Dressage Championships.
Centucky has an exceptional
jump and was purchased by David Middleton for $18,000. David
showed his 'great eye for a horse' and understanding of how special, these
talented youngsters are.

horses take his place??? |

The truck loading race and the temporary stables which
housed the 2004 sale horses.
Belcam International are building a 'state of the art' stable block and
veiwing complex and hope that it will be completed for the 2005 sale. |
