Belcam International Sale - A Huge Success

 2004 BELCAM INTERNATIONAL AUCTION
Report and Pictures by
Berni Saunders - 7th June 2004

2004 Sale a great success!!

Belcam International's 2nd Annual Sale was bigger and brighter than the inaugural sale in 2003.  With perfect weather and excellent pre sales information which was distributed to give everyone the opportunity to plan their 6th June outing.

Belinda and Axel Renz (pictured below) are to be sincerely congratulated on their professionalism, attention to detail and the quality of their gorgeous and superb presentation.  It was quite apparent that nothing had been left to chance.

The auction was expertly and interestingly conducted by 'master auctioneer' Peter Heagney who is well know for his skill with thoroughbreds at the William Inglis Sales complex.  Peter is also a Dressage & showhorse judge and and has a keen interest in the Olympic disciplines.  His knowledge and wonderful manner kept the day flowing nicely and I am sure he coaxed a few more dollars for the vendors.

For many, the star mover of the show was Axel, he has a trot for a 10 and I can now see why his family block of chocolate per day does not go to his hips!  Axel handled the horses to perfection and was a pleasure to watch.

The other star of the day was the magic stallion Capone.  Most of the sales lots were by this outstanding import and it is clear that he has a gift for throwing movement beauty and temperament.  It is clear that he much loved and his performance in hand was full of fun and enthusiasm.

Belinda gave us all some interesting history about Capone.  He is currently in competition work with the very successful and elegant FEI rider Rebecca Fenner and we should se him out and about later in 2004.

I will be doing a full report with pictures of all of the lost and some of the buyers.  It is a big job and will be a few days to complete.
