Protocol for the Final of the Bates Young Dressage Horse Championships:
Top 10 horses of the Friday competition - Round 1 will come back for the final on Saturday in the groups below, which were determined by placing's.  (except Green Oaks Legend as Heath would have needed to ride two horses in the same group - even HE would have had some trouble!!)

The final score will be determined as follows:-
For 1st. to 3rd place:  Friday score + Saturday score + Riding score
For 4th to 10th. place:  Friday score + Saturday score.

This will be judged by Harry Boldt, Mariette Withages and Michael Klimke, and workout and format will be the same as on Friday.

The first group in the final ten was:

Heatherton Park Cadiz ridden by Leslie Anne Taylor, Michael reported that the judges felt that the horse needs to be more uphill  - A score of 760

Emerdell Fortuna Finale ridden by Wayne Williams  Michael Klimke who spoke for the judges and conferred with Harry Boldt said that the horse had nice paces but a poorer canter and the mark for rideability is 710

Richmead Debonaire ridden by Lisa Martin was assessed by the judging panel and Michael reported that they thought that the mare was a sweet type, lacking rideability and slightly irregular 680

Green Oaks Legend beautifully ridden by Heath Ryan - the comments... A very nice active dressage horse with a wonderful trot 920 was the score.

In the second group:

Cool Cat with NSW FEI dressage rider aboard - received a mark of 680 and the remarks that he is a good type but slightly irregular in trot.

Wangarra Showman and Luciano D'Elia The judges opinion was that he is not well enough developed for a dressage horse and too short in the neck - score 630

River Ranch Copenhagen and Linda Shore - On forehand, rideability lacking 720

Timbertop and Charlotte Stibbard Michael said that the judges said that this horse is a nice type that is to grow into a heavyweight. 730 was the score.

The third group began with

Heatherton Park Anagram and Rodney Martin received a score of 750

AEA Just De Pomme ridden by Daisy Berris were awarded 770 as the judges would have liked so see a little more softness into hand.

Day Star ridden by Iveke Van Gervan and the judges thought that he was too short in neck and on hand, and that the horse was too long. 740 was his score.

Green Oaks Dundee with Heath Ryan impressed the judges with his nice rhythm, shape and rideability.  They scored 900

Michael Klimke rides the top three

Just De Pomme - Michael Says ... Lacking submission in contact  - lots of potential but not accepting legs to hand ... so for rideability 700

Green Oaks Dundee - Michael Says ... Potential for superstar but not going forward enough into hand.  Lots of nerve would do wonderful piaffe/passage but he was looking.  850

Green Oaks Legend - Michael Says ... he had a wonderful feeling and the horse responded well when he collected him and let go.  Wonderful rideability 950
