Popular Victorian Vet, Lisa
Alexander and her lovely mare Campaspe Park Greta chose a medley of Beatles and other rock
music of that era. Technically
Greta had problems with the early Piaffe/Passage work and it was difficult to get it back
on track. |
 |
This would have been a
disappointment for Lisa as Greta is very talented in this aspect of her work and usually
adds to the scores with her ability to sit and Piaffe on the spot. The Piaffe/Passage work and the transitions make a
huge difference to the score. They scored 57.46% and they too are capable of much better
marks. |
 |
Centaur and Anne Serrao from NSW
are in their first season of Grand Prix and would have loved being part of this exciting
competition. She chose 'jaunty'
Rock and Roll music which really suited her horse.
Centaur is by the imported Trakehner stallion
Copernicus, and shows great ability. He lacked engagement in some his work - but
this is to be expected in the early days. |
 |
This picture shows an attempt at
Piaffe, which tended to be weak throughout the test. As I mentioned previously this movement along with the Passage and
the transitions between the two make up a huge part of the mark and Centaur's problems
were very costly.
A great effort and we will see more of them,
I am sure!
56.05% was the score. |
 |
Karen Davis and Mighty Heights
have made a great impact on the Grand Prix scene and the horse has again proved his
legendary adaptability Mighty
Heights raced as a young Thoroughbred and then went on to win the Melbourne 3 Day Event in
1995, he won 2 Gold Medals in the Sydney Paralympic Games, and now he is making his mark
at the highest level of dressage. |
 |
Karen chose a collection of
orchestrated Michael Jackson hits to highlight the excitement of her innovative
choreography. The technical
mark was affected by a slight hollowness in the Piaffe/Passage elements.
They scored 60.66% - and Karen had a great
ride. |

From Western Australia is Margo
Boldt on her super black stallion Konnica Park Don Georgio. He is by the
Thoroughbred stallion Pot Black and out of a Warmblood mare. Margo chose Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, which I
loved, but I did not much like the change to modern acoustic music. I am sure that
others considered the change interesting. |
 |
Don Georgio is just lovely and
has beautifully elastic, and expressive in his paces. Today the technical work was
not as secure as what is needed to win at this level. This horse has improved greatly in the past twelve months and I am
sure will be a force in the near future.
It was great to have Margot here in Melbourne
and they scored 61.74% - not too far off the 63% that is needed to be considered for the
final. |

Now that Exellent's owner
Margaret Evans is planning to 'bow out' and Exellent is to be sold, Rozzie is focussed on
improving the talented Trakehner gelding Arglen Kalib. He is by the imported
stallion Kaliber from a TB mare. Kaleb
is very hot and reactionary, and often spooks at the arena markers and pot plants.
This temperament also gives him outstanding
ability in the Piaffe and Passage ... and his very experienced and creative rider ensured
that he showed his abilities today. |
 |
Arglen Kaleb is still gaining
experience and needs to consolidate the technical side of his freestyle performance, but
the lovely musical collection which included that great tune from 'Forest Gump' worked
very well. Rozzie and Kaleb
scored 60.38% - could this be the next Exellent ??? |
