Competition 9 - Prix St Georges - Sat. 27th Oct.
- Page 4 |
The Prix St. Georges continues, and we have seen some lovely tests so
far. I could not help but wonder if the winner was still to come? |
 |
Sally Evans on the
lofty moving gelding, Jaybee Assassin. He is by Aachimedes from Sabrina. This
was a very nice test with all the qualities that the judges would be looking for. The trot work was particularly good with excellent
'schwung'.
The scored 63.35% for 5th place.
Congratulations. |
 |
Iwan and Sally
Barber, are another combination with a huge future. This stunning gelding was
imported by Sally. He is KWPN by the Grand Prix stallion, Chronos.
Iwan has a stunning walk.Iwan
spent some of his early life showjumping. Anne did a great job and they scored
61.90% for 6th place. |
 |
Northern Hector is
by Northern Hermes from Northern Fandango. The gelding is a good type but did not
seem to ready for this demanding level of competition. The flying changes were a little 'wild' and this would
have cost lots of marks not only in these movements but in the collectives! |
 |
Northern Hector and
Blas Lago will no doubt consolidate, and be a force in the not too distant future. They scored 52.85% for 28th place. |
 |
Cyrano and Rochelle
King got caught by a small difference between the old Prix St. Georges test and this new
edition - the halt and rein back at A, between the two shoulder-in movements - and they
omitted this requirement. After the bell rang to mark the error, the test
proceeded quite well. |
 |
Cyrano an
attractive Arabian/Warmblood by imported French Anglo Arab - Victorieux (dec). Rochelle
King did quite a nice test. I
could not find them featured in the results, so I do not who where they ended up! |
 |
Tintagel Magic (by
Wunder from Astrid McOhl - bred by Victorian vet Neils Svensen, and his wife Kim, the
horse was an orphan) This is
such a young stallion, and he worked much better outdoors. He broke in the
first extended trot, but got back on track for the remainder of this test. |
 |
A perfect final
halt for Tintagel Magic. The
stallion is owned by Victoria Hawk and ridden by Emmanuelle De Denaro. People like Mary
Hanna and Andrew McLean have played a big part in this horse's education.
They finished with a score of 59.00% for 11th
placing. |
 |
Barrington Ock Tedi
and Belinda Flynn. This horse is a great campaigner and has been in the FEI ranks
for quite some time. He has
settled down to produce some really nice work. In earlier years he had a real
'thing' with the final centre line of the Grand Prix test, and often, after doing a great
job to that point, just blew it, with resistance.
I am sure that this level is better suited to
his temperament and abilities. |
 |
Belinda did a
lovely job and should be thrilled with the result. Ock Tedi lost a few marks, as he
became heavy and too deep into the bridle, but attention to this will give a few more
marks and perhaps a top 6 placing - Good luck Belinda. Ock Tedi was bred in Tasmania by Lyn Kooistra and her
daughter has a mare just like him.
They scored 58.65% for 12 placing. |
