Joern Kubelke Clinic - Day 4

First to ride today was Chantal Wigan on River Gold (see Day 1 for details), followed by young rider Elliot Patterson riding Le Moulin Rouge.

Alex Berns riding the glorious 4 year old black mare, Jaybee Coco by Carbine out of Elect a Date XX. Alex rode her talented FEI horse, Jaybee Acrobat (by Aachimedes) on the days I couldn't attend so I was unable to get a photo of them.

As Dressage Queensland is currently in the process of securing sponsors for the A & B Squads, lessons were unfortunately not subsidised for senior members (unlike the Young Rider Squad) and therefore members were allowed to bring their second-string and up-and-coming horses to the clinic. I know DQ are working very hard to rectify this to assist squad members with instruction costs.

Claire Wallace on Liaison, a super 10 year old bay Holsteiner by Northern Classic out of Rare Coral xx.

Career highlights include DWTS 2000 - 5yr old finalist - 7th, DWTS 2001 - 6yr old finalist - 6th, Qld Young Horse Championships 6yr - 2nd, Qld State Championships 2004 - Advanced - 1st, Qld CDI 2005 - Prix St Georges - 4th, Intermediate I - 4th, Inter I freestyle - 2nd, Australian Prix St George Challenge final 2004 - 7th.

"Dummy", as he is known to his friends, must be the most travelled horse in Australia as he and Claire are based up in Rockhampton and it took her some 9 hours travelling time to get to the clinic - now I call that dedication!

Claire, a professional trainer, horse breeder and owner of Lexington Farm with partner Ross, was very pleased with her lessons with Joern, "I wanted to get the horse really 'through' the bridle when working in a collected frame and really using his back end. Joern has a very clear, calm and encouraging way about him and his English is pretty good. He's quick to praise and is really supportive."

Young Rider Kaitlin Dooney on Charisma Ledra.

Another Young Rider Squad member, Danica Vansleve on her larger-than-life 17.3hh gelding, Rockerfeller. 'Rocky' is by Rocadero and was initially trained by Ricky Macmillan. Another wonderful opportunity for a young rider to get the 'feel' of riding an educated horse. Dan trains with Ricky and Geraldine van Montfrans.

Anjanette Harten on Aladdin. I'm sorry to have missed her ride on her Squad horse, Don Ricardo.

Anjanette is a NCAS Level II Coach and has been on the Queensland Dressage Squad for 5 years.

Paula Price on the stunning APH True Seville.

I'm sorry not to have been able to stay to watch her lesson but I did manage to get a few photos on my way out.

I'm also sorry to have missed the other riders that attended the clinic including Nicole Tough, 14 year old Elliott Patterson, and young rider Jayden Brown riding Aubaine Cossack, who has just returned from a stint in Germany at Leonie Brammall's barn.

I would like to thank and congratulate the organisers for a fantastic couple of days, especially the ever-hospitable State Squad Coordinator, Deb Ashby who worked tirelessly over the four days and was always on hand to cater to our every whim. The Squad is indeed fortunate to have such a hard worker looking after them, especially when she does it with such good cheer!

Ms Congeniality - Deb Ashby

Also, a special thanks to Tracey Round for all her assistance in getting me to the clinic, cheers!
