Joern Kubelke Clinic - Day 1
I'm afraid I missed the first rider of the day, Nicole Magoffin riding Jaybee Anzac by Aachimedes out of Connor County xx, but I did manage to catch her lesson on the final day.

pic of nm

Nicole trains with Nicole Tough and Traci Manca and has represented Queensland on many occasions.

Liz Owens and Class Action II, an 11 year old black Hanoverian mare by Graf Landau out of Remi Winter Solstice.

Liz trains with Irene Bakels-Noreen and she has also trained in UK and Europe. She has won 11 National Titles on 3 different horses including 5 at FEI level.

I'm sorry not to have caught up with Liz but she had to dash off to work straight after her lesson.

Tor Van Den Berge on Jaybee Alabaster, a 6 year old liver chestnut stallion by Alabaster out of Gloria. Jaybee Alabaster is owned by Bev and John Edwards.

Tor has done a brilliant job in training "Bastie" whose performances include 5yo Champion - Sydney CDI*** 2004, 5yo Champion National Young Horse Champs, 2003, 4yo Champion - Sydney CDI***, Australian representative at the World Young Dressage Horse Championships in Verden, Australian Elementary Champion and Australian Medium Champion at the 2005 National Championships.

Tor wanted to focus on roundness and throughness. He was very impressed with Joern's teaching style and his desire to get everything out of 'forward'.

Tracey Round on her lovely 8 year old black Trakhener gelding, Beluga by Benito out of Fire Grate.

Tracey trains with Di Jenkyn and her and "Billy's" achievements include 2005 Reserve Medium State Champion, 2005 Brenda Whitman Advanced Champion, Spin Memorial Newcomer State Champion 2003, NADEC Novice Futurity Champion 2003.

Tracey was interested in focussing on suppling work and getting improvement in the horse's self-carriage. She told me he really likes Joern's style of instruction as it is logical and his timing is impeccable, "It's not only that Joern knows what to say but it's when he says it that it all falls into place. Also, he's really kind to the horses."

Jackie Hill on Snowy River Redwood, a flashy 11 year old chestnut gelding by Stirling Liberty out of Deep River.

Poor Jackie did really well to hang in there as she was suffering a chest infection and found it difficult at times to catch her breath, let alone ride Grand Prix movements!

Jackie trains with Di Jenkyn and her career highlights include 5th in the Inter I Freestyle at the 2005 Nationals and Top 10 in the Inter I at the 2005 Nationals.

Young Rider Squad member, Tori Welch and the educated chestnut, Belambrae Kepler.

Belambrae Kepler was trained by Tori's mum, Libby who has generously given the ride to Tori. What a fantastic opportunity to have such a super horse to learn all the high school movements on!

Tori is a member of 2006 Australian Winning Trans Tasman Young Rider Team.

Malcom Duffy on the stunning Espirit, an 8 year old gelding by Donnafalke out of an Aachen mare.

Mal is a relative newcomer to the world of dressage having taken up the sport only 7 years ago. He was worked really hard to show what his talented horse can produce and should be congratulated for his achievements.

Mal also trains with Di Jenkyn.

Anita Scampton on the talented grey, Faulkaneer, a 17 year old Holsteiner by Falcon out of Sapphire (by Monopol).

Career highlights include 2001 SEQ Reserve Elementary Champion, 2002 Qld State Reserve Medium Champion, 2004 Sharon Doe YR Champion, GSE Inter II Champion, 2005 Big Tour Champion at NSW State, SEQ & Far Northern NSW Championships, Inter II and GP Champion at GSE, TDEG and Nambour Championships and Reserve Big Tour Champion Qld State Championship.

Anita bought this cheeky grey gelding off a friend and together they have risen to the ranks of Grand Prix in just four years - a remarkable feat in anyone's book!

Anita was wrapped to be able to make it to the clinic as "Zephyr" has only just returned from having a bit of time off. She trains with Tina Fairweather and Thomas Muehlenbeck.

Karen Crommelin on Argentille Germaine, an 11 year old chestnut mare by Gullit out of a Copernicus mare.

Career highlights include 2004 Official Medium Champion Armidale Dressage Festival, 2005 Official Medium Reserve Champion Toowoomba Regional Dressage Championships, and 3rd in the 2005 Brisbane CDI Medium/Advanced Freestyle.

Karen is a NCAS Level 1 coach and also runs a Elite Warmbloods (stud) with husband, Peter. She trains with Irene Bakels-Noreen and Thomas Muehlenbeck.

The last two riders for the day were Abbey Lovell and Chantal Wigan, who unfortunately I wasn't able to stay and watch.

Abbey rides the mare Meridian and is a member of the Young Rider Squad.

Chantal rode Rivergold, a steel-grey 7 year old stallion by Riverman out of Blenheim Krizarne.

Chantal and her family are the proprietors of Pine Lodge Equestrian Park and her career highlights include 4th Medium level at 2005 Nationals, Advanced 2 star class in Toowoomba 2005, and Reserve Medium Champion at the 2003 South East Qld Championships.

Chantal trained for 2 years in Germany with Rudolph Zeilinger and returned home to Australia in 1997 after obtaining her BHS Intermediate Instructor qualification in 1997. She trains with Ron Patterson and Linda Schmerglatt.

Chantal really enjoyed her lesson with Joern and commented that he is very meticulous on the rider's contact - ensuring collection is off the seat and leg; with the hand being last to come into action.
