Cavalcade - Reins of Fire, Jean-Marc Imbert arrives in Australia

Touring Australia Nationally in November 2005
Story & Pictures by Berni Saunders - Page 1

Jean-Marc Imbert and his horses arrive...
Tuesday 4th October, 2005.

Jean-Marc Imbert and Sophie Matheoud

Today, Australia welcomed Jean-Marc Imbert,  his partner Sophie Matheoud and their 3 special horses Nikito, Yelo and Javari De Lamothe.  They arrived in Melbourne to prepare for their performances in Cavalcade - Reins of Fire which will tour the country later in the month.

Kam Dheda (right) from Performance-Services was there to ensure that the stars of the show had arrived safely and got a warm greeting.

Jean-Marc and Sophie will be in Australia for 55 days and are very excited to be here.  Their Cathay Pacific flight touched down at 10.30 and then the unloading and re-loading of horses and gear began.  There is a great deal of paperwork and  other procedures to be followed and I had to get special permission to enter the Menzies Freight terminal which is located South of the Domestic and International terminal at Tullamarine Airport.

The Cathay Pacific plane that bought the stars to Australia.

Following a road and ferry trip from France to Germany, Jean-Marc and Sophie boarded the Cathay flight in Frankfurt and had a short stop off in Dubai and another longer break of about 4 hours in Hong Kong where the horses were unloaded.  Jean-Marc was pleased, as the weather there was very hot and with engines off, so no air conditioning,  the horses would have been very uncomfortable if  they had been left on board.

"This is the first time the horses have been on a plane" Sophie told me.  "We are very pleased with them,  they travelled without any problems and seem to be happy and well"

Jean-Marc was the first to step inside the 3 horse container to give the boys a pat on the nose to reassure them that the long journey was almost over ... "Just one more little truck ride and we will be home", he said in French.
