Samantha Bartlett and Party On
(by Prego) are from Victoria. Sam has her good days ... and on other occasions, her
hot but talented horse seems to let the nerves get to him, and irregularity spoils the
work. Today was not a good day
and much of the Piaffe/Passage tour was irregular. At this level, it is very costly
and left them with a score of 52.83%. |
 |
Manhattan and Sue Hearn came
down from NSW to be part of this special event. Manhattan is 17 hands and is proof
that the right kind of Thoroughbred can do dressage. This combination have been on a roll with great success at the top
level for quite some time now - and this performance was up to the standard that I have
come to expect from them. The changes were a little tight, but otherwise the test was hard
to fault.
A score of 64.59% put them into third place. |
 |
Centaur and Ann Serrao from NSW
are quite new to this level, and had some bad luck at the Nationals. Anne learnt the
wrong Grand Prix test and therefore had to retire. A hard lesson, but it does
happen! Today, most of the work
was great, and the talented Copernicus gelding has a really lovely swinging trot.
The canter pirouettes were not a strong point, and gave away the horse's
inexperience. They will be sure to improve and be a real force, in he not too
distant future. They scored 57.56% |
 |
Lisa Alexander and her Granada
mare, Campaspe Park Greta. Greta can really Piaffe and Passage, but today she
seemed a little flat and this part of the test was not strong, which is costly. Greta seemed tight and perhaps a little tense and this
appeared to affect much of the test. Very disappointing for Lisa who works very hard
to keep on top. They scored 54.93% |

The 'sweetheart' of Victorian
dressage is Emma Youngman's young imported Swedish stallion Rasputin. He is very young and this is only about his 6th start
at this demanding level. I felt that the horse was much more together today than
when I last saw him in Sydney. As get stronger in the Piaffe he will be hard to beat
as he has such a good brain and wonderfully elastic movement.
It was a great score of 60.20% and a 4th
place for Emma. |

Victorian's - Victorious..... A great test which was rewarded by a good score of
66.88% put Mary and Limbo into the winning position. |
 |
Mary Hanna and Limbo in the
line-up at the presentation for the Equitana Dressage Masters CDI-W Grand Prix (Short
Version) The Dressage at this
event carries a total prize pool of $10,000 which would have been part of the drawcard for
the Interstate riders.
As selection for the Work Equestrian Games in
Jerez, Spain next year begin in earnest, this will be an important victory for Mary. |
