CIC-W
World Cup Qualifier
Still the three star course the CIC-W
drew entries from the county's best known and admired performers. It seemed to me
that the riders had opted to ride in this important qualifying event rather than the
CIC*** which had only 10 starters. The World Cup qualifier is only two such
events to be held in Australia - the second will be at Warwick in Queensland in July.
The CIC *** and the CIC-W classes both took the
same three star track. |
Uptrend and Chris Smith looked good over Fence 29 the Printkwik Picnic place. |
Over the same fence - but with a little more speed
- is Michael Baker on GS Chevalier |
|
Wendy Schaeffer's
horse Sun Shades came into the cross country running 2nd in the dressage, so a good run in
this and the showjumping could easily see them the overall winners.
Sun Shades ran out a little at Fence 12 the
Vicarage Vee and took a flag. The jump judges eliminated her on the basis
that she did not clear the jump.
Wendy protested and after viewing the video
footage which showed that the horse did jump the fence - albeit not cleanly, her protest
was upheld.
Wendy is seen left striding back to the judges
tower to discuss the issue. |

|
Above - a mighty leap
from Starstruck with Emma Mason nicely balanced on top. They had a refusal and the
picture right shows the second attempt at the Horseland Camel Water jump. |
Sue Leslie on Peter the Red - this pic was taken just as Sue
regained her stirrups after landing awkwardly from Fence 11
|
Toy Boy and Malia Chappel - this horse was not so strong in the Dressage but made
up mountains on the Cross Country course and in the Showjumping round - well done Toy Boy. |
Christoper Burton on Deo Juvante - the horse ran out at the rather intimidating
Apex and Chris took the long route - the horse looks a little shaken by the experience.
|
What a beautiful setting !!! |
The Horseland Camel Water Jump was the most popular spot
for spectators to catch a glimpse of the action. |
