The huge fences, glorious
setting, magnificent horses and brave riders all make up the mix of excitement that is
Eventing. I have to say that CC Day at the Melbourne 3 Day is an occasion I do not
like to miss. You do have to go and be a part of the action to realise the enormity
of running such an event. With two to three officials on each jump - the mobile
toilets being taken around for the jump official's comfort (they certainly cannot leave
their post - not even for a few minutes) and the opportunity to walk around the most
picturesque places in Victoria. The manicured gardens, magnificent ornamental trees,
lakes and lawn make this setting a world class venue - it is easy to see why the rider
love to come to Melbourne.
The three Star course is huge, technical and challenging.
Course designer Michael Creber is very experienced in his craft and the 2003 track
offered everything to test the talent, training and technique of each combination.
Michael's design was thoughtful and innovative - he came up
with some novel ideas and always considered the sponsors who were very well represented
out on course.

Gillian Rolton (Aus) Jean Mitchell from Ireland and Barry Roycroft (Aus)
Rugged up against the cold in their fashionable 'sherpas' were cute
sisters - Kelsie and Morgan Lupson from Essendon. They loved their day out.
Without a hard working committee this event would not happen - Mike Sullivan is the
Chairman of the Organising Committee, and he was well pleased with the results of months
of effort and hard work - well done Mike and Co.
