2003 Horseland Melbourne
International
Three Day Event. 5th-9th June, 2003
Report - Page 2
Dressage |
The CIC-W dressage
phase continues. This competition was held indoors. My pictures are taken in
the warmup arena in order to give the best possible image. The indoor was
poorly lit due to the lack of full sunshine which is, unfortunately, part of
Melbourne winter!! |

Fiona
Hughes on her charming mare Enchanted. I found myself drawn to the side of the ring
where Fiona warmed up this lovely horse. She can REALLY move, with flashy extensions
and bold forward paces - she will be hard to beat. Enchanted put the other on notice
when she placed 3rd at the 2003 Sydney CCFI*** - with such dressage potential she is one
to watch. I was a little surprised to hear that Fiona and Enchanted were 7th on 52.0
- but warm up-s often go better than the real thing! |
Ian Balfour on his consistent horse - The King's Romance. He told me later that the
horse was not quite right and they withdrew prior to the showjumping.
|
Eliza Jane and Pongsiree Bunluewong were not strong in the
Dressage - they scored 63.5 for 17th place after this first of three phases. This
combination had it all to do! With a fantastic CC and SJ round they took out 5th
position overall - a great effort.

Sue Leslie and Peter
the Red showed some lovely work in their dressage warmup - but their score would suggest
that he was not as relaxed or compliant when he got indoors with the big atmosphere and no
friends to keep him company. They scored 59.3 which sat them on 13th place at this
point in the competition. |

Christopher Burton and his Deo Juvante come to this event with some
impressive peformances behind them
He is seen on the left reporting to the 'gear check' Marshall and on the right in a
soft and forward canter - right. They scored 47.0 for 4th place after the dressage. |
Malia Chappell on Toy Boy - this combination were not string in
the Dressage but absolutely blitzed in the Showjumping - Toy Boy is a jumping machine.
Their score in this phase was 61.1 and gave them 15th place. |
Emma Mason on Starstruck looked the part - they scored 53.7 which gave them 9th
position after the 1st phase.
