Werribee put on a spectatular day with great sunshine and a light breeze for day one of the 2009 Equestrian Australia Show Horse and Rider Championships.
All states and New Zealand represented their states and country proudly, sporting virbrant uniforms during team arena practice. Show Horse is often preceived as an individual sport, but this event gives riders a chance to be a part of a state team, proudly wearing their state badges and vocally sporting their team members.
The rising popularity of the Hunter classes was clear to see by the packed and appreciative gallery with standing room only around the results board as people jostled to see how the judges had scored the horses,
Honours went to New South Wales with 3 wins for the day, closely followed by Victoria with 2 wins. New Zealand won Reserve Champion Trans Tasman Show Hunter Hack.
The quality of horses at this years Championships has been outstanding and it truely is where history is made.
