Australia-based riders out to impress in the lead-up to Kentucky
The dressage world is now looking towards the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky USA and the Australian Championships provide an opportunity for Australia-based competitors to impress the visiting FEI 5* Judges in the lead-up to selection for the WEG.
The Horseland Australian Dressage Championships includes a CDI-W (World Cup Qualifier) judged under International rules by an approved panel of FEI listed Judges. The CDI-W consists of the Grand Prix competition, which serves as the qualifying test for the Freestyle. The judging panel includes Stephen Clarke (Great Britain), Axel Steiner (USA), Joan Macartney (Canada) and leading judges from Australia.
The Hamilton Island Grand Prix CDI-W (Friday) is the competition where horse and rider combinations must perform at their best to achieve "MES" (Minimum Eligibility Scores) to be considered for selection to the Australian Team next year. A handful of qualifying and selection events will be held in Australia in the coming months and riders will be looking to shine at each and every one. The Grand Prix (CDI-W) takes place on Friday, 30 October, from 1.00pm to 5.30pm.
The Bates Grand Prix Freestyle will be held on Saturday evening, 31 October, from 8.30pm to 10.00pm in the indoor arena.
Daily admission: Thursday: Free entry; Friday: $15; Saturday: $25; Sunday: $15 pp. Children under 12 have free entry except for Saturday when admission is $15. Tickets will be available at the entrance daily. Reserved seating tickets for Saturday can be purchased on line from the web site.
