4 YO Young Dressage Horse Championship
Round 2

No.    Horse                        Rider 2nd Round Trot   Walk CanterSupp  GI   eoc Total

55 Greenoaks Weltman   Heath Ryan     7.4  8.0  7.8  8.2  7.8  0.0 7.84      1

Greenoaks Weltman.  The horse did a very nice test, he was very nicely ridden and definitely on the training scale.  We would like to see a little more elasticity in the trot, we awarded 7.4.  The walk was very nice with a clear overtrack 8.0. The horse showed good transitions from trot to canter and the score for canter was 7.8.  The judges were impressed with the horse’s submission and rewarded his steady balance with 8.2.  General Impression was 7.8 and reflected that the judges rewarded the horse’s adherence to the training scale. Roger told us that the total in this second round is 7.84.

78 APH Ludo   James Miller     7.4  6.6  8.0  7.5  7.8  0.0 7.46      2

APH Ludo.  The judging panel liked this horse very much even though it is not as advanced in training.  He has nice paces but is still a little weak behind.  The trot was fluent and willing to go forward and was awarded 7.4. The walk was ordinary but had no problems and scored 6.6.  The canter was nice and through and scored 8.  The suppleness score reflected the judge’s appreciation for the open frame for a 4 Yo horse – it was 7.5, and they noted that the horse was supple and obliging.  They felt that the horse was developing well on the training scale and awarded 7.8 for General Impression.

Roger advised that this gave an overall score of 7.46.  This shot the lovely chestnut up to 2nd place in the 4 year old class.

75 Waiiri   Emmanuelle De Denaro     7.8  6.8  7.5  7.2  7.7  0.0 7.40      3

Waiiri.  The judges noted that the horse was much more relaxed than he was the previous day.  He is a nice picture of a horse to go on.  It was a very good trot and scored 7.8 (the highest trot mark).  The judges found the walk lacking and needing more suppleness. The walk mark was 6.8. The canter was a little on two tracks 7.50.  There were problems with the relaxation and suppleness and this brought the mark down to 7.2.  The general impression was lovely.  The judges felt that there was a problem with the rider asking the horse to go too much forward and upsetting balance. 7.7 was the mark.  This made a total of 7.4 and they finish in 3rd place.

54 Adlanta Rose   Sara McDonald     7.3  7.0  7.3  7.1  7.5  0.0 7.24    4

Adlanta Rose was the last to go in the 4 YO final round.  This reflected the top score after the first day of competition.  Alison reported that the judges felt that today the horse could have had a more open frame and the score was 7.3.   It was a clear walk, but inactive 7.0.  They would have liked to see the canter more ‘off the ground’ and gave 7.3.  They felt that there were problems in the transitions and the horse came off the bit.  They would have liked to se a longer frame … 7.1.  The General Impression attracted a score of 7.5 and this give a total of 7.24 and the lovely mare slips back to 4th place.

 50 Patou   Carolyn Henley     7.4  7.8  7.3  7.2  7.4  0.2 7.22   5

Patou.  Alison King said that the judges felt that this horse presented a nice picture and they liked the expression in the trot which scored 7.4. Thy liked the walk and felt that it could cover a little more ground 7.8.  The canter had problems and she needs to get more off the ground 7.3.  The contact was steady so the submission mark was 7.2.  The horse has nice dressage potential so 7.4 was the general impression mark for a total of 7.42 and they finish in 5th place – one down from the first day score.

51 DP Wedonna   Heath Ryan     7.2  7.5  7.0  6.8  7.5  0.0 7.20       =6

DP Wedonna.  Alison King said that she was a good type of horse with 3 good paces.  The trot was a little hurried.  They gave 7.2 for the trot. The walk was willing and active with a clear overtrack and score 7.5.  The canter was not as good as the trot so 7.00.  The suppleness mark was 6.5 and General Impression and potential for the future was 7.5.  Roger again did the sums and told us that DP Wedonna scored 7.2 and they also moved up to finish in equal 6th place.

77 Waca W         Silva Stigler     7.5  6.7  7.2  7.0  7.6  0.0 7.20    =6

Waca W.  Alison told us that this horse presented a nice picture for a Dressage horse and the highlight was the trot which earned a score of 7.2.  She said the canter was a little flat – 7.2.  The walk was not always even in rhythm and scored 6.0 the suppleness mark was 7.0 and the general impression and future prospects were awarded 7.6 making a total of 7.2 putting them into equal 6th place – a position shared with DP Wedonna and Heath Ryan.

60 Flowervale Willow   Ruth Schneeberger     6.5  6.5  7.4  6.5  7.0  0.0 6.78       8

The first horse to go on day two  - Flowervale Willow who was ridden for her owners by South Australian Ruth Schneeberger.  In round two the judges opinions were explained and Alison King from Hong Kong acted as the spokes person for the judging panel.  She said that the canter was this horse’s best pace.  It was a good type of horse and you could work with it.  The trot scored 6.5, the walk 6.5, 7.40 for the canter, 6.5 for suppleness and 7 for General Impression and rideability.  Roger Fitzhardinge totted up the scores and advised that the total score was 6.78 and this combination moved up two places to finish 8th.

 81 CJP Fridensfurst   Michelle Hicks     6.0  6.5  7.1  6.7  6.8  0.0 6.62       9

CJP Fridensfurst.  Alison King told us that this horse made a nice picture and although they liked the trot, the judges felt that it was not completely fluent, the score was 6.0.  There was tension in the walk – the horse had a tense back and scored 6.5.  The canter is the best pace but needs more contact – 7.10.  The submission mark was effected by the problems with the contact and tension 6.70.  The general impression … The horse presents a nice picture but needs to deal with the problems if he is to go on.  6.8 was the mark and again Roger gives us the total … 6.62 and they finish down a few placings on 9th.

69 Jaybee Collette   Tony Uytendaal     6.0  6.0  6.2  6.2  6.1  0.0 6.10   10

Jaybee Collette.  Alison felt that the mare had problems in all paces with the basics of contact and relaxation missing. The judges awarded 6.60 for trot and they felt that the canter was hurried and flat so 6.20, the walk was not quite even and 6.0.  Because of the contact problems and submission mark was 6.20.  She acknowledged that Collette is a nice looking horse but the problems today brought the General Impression mark down to 6.10 and the total was 6.10.
