With the Inter 1 competition
almost a mirror of the Prix St Georges, except for Karen Glendenning's
lovely horse Enough Said, who worked very well through some of the
movements, but was not quite consistent. - Comment
beyond that it is also ... enough said!
The Grand Prix class listed
two entries - Marakoopa with Gillian Rogers and Tavistock Florenzo.
On the day, Marakoopa was scratched, which left Janice the
winner before she started.
However Janice did not
allow this foregone conclusion to dampen her enthusiasm for a good score
... and she really went for it.
I judged her in the Inter
2 and was very impressed with Florenzo's looseness and lightness. He
sometimes came behind the riders' leg and seat and when Janice corrected
this fault up near 'M' the horse almost jumped over the arena
surround. This response to Janice's correction was more than she
expected and caused a loss of harmony and balance which would have cost
them a little in the submission mark. This meant that the Inter 2
test marked lower than the more difficult GP. Janice is sure to look
at reasons ... and work on training which will get Florenzo more
responsive and calm when she asks him to listen to her leg.
In the GP Janice kept it
altogether, a 62.67% score at GP was a great result and no doubt all
'Florenzo' connections were well pleased.
I was not able to get a
'competition' picture of Janice - but the one below shows her careful
warm-up, designed to get her horse 'over the back' and through to the
bridle.
