General Nediym Foals Arrive at Eliza Park

After relocating from Queensland earlier this year, Champion Sprinter General Nediym has welcomed his first foals at his new home at Eliza Park.

Eliza Park Bloodstock Sales Manager Denis Roberts believes General Nediym's sons and daughters are already built to emulate their brilliant father as juveniles.

"Each of his foals are strong athletic types, with lovely hind quarters. They really look like speed machines even at this young age" said Roberts.

Among a long list of outstanding types, Roberts is most impressed with a chestnut filly out of Prodigious and a bay filly out of Allendale. Both foals are owned by General Nediym's owner and breeder, Ron Ashdown of Glengarry Thoroughbreds, Queensland.

General Nediym retired from racing earning over $2.1m in prizemoney, with feature wins in Group 1 sprint double of the VRC Newmarket Handicap and the Lightning Stakes. In all, he registered thirteen wins from twenty-one starts and was crowned Champion Australasian Sprinter when only a three year-old.

At two years, General Nediym won five of his six starts including an effortless win in the Gold Coast Magic Millions , a race won by leading sires Snippets and Brave Warrior, who defeated another leading first and second season sire in St. Covet in the 1994 two year-old classic. General Nediym's only unplaced run at 2 came in the Golden Slipper where he was narrowly beaten into fifth place behind Guineas and Encounter.
