VICKI WHIBLEY (South Australia)
"I live in South Australia on a small farm at Cockatoo Valley, 50 kms north of Adelaide and am employed part time as a travel consultant. I come from a racing background, my grandfather having been one of the leading jockeys in South Australia for many years. When his riding career was over he took up training, so there were always horses in one way or another.

As a teenager I worked every morning at Bart Cummings' North Glenelg stables before going off to my real job in the public service! It was a great learning experience looking after so many different types of horses. A good lesson in discipline too.

I developed an interest in show horses when several of Bart's racehorses went to show homes. Needless to say I became "hooked" and started having riding lessons and began to show some horses of my own. The most successful of these was Marco Polo, who was consistently placed for several years at Adelaide Royal. Although I enjoy showing, my greatest interest is in the actual training of horses, from the day they arrive from the track until the day they are ready to compete as show horses. I find this side of the sport very satisfying.

Apart from the hacks, I have competed in several other areas of the sport and have been successful with led thoroughbred stock at both Adelaide and Melbourne Royals. I have judged at agricultural shows in several states, and quite enjoy this facet of the sport. After having had a break from competing in the show ring for a couple of years, I am now looking forward to bringing out a nice new hack by the imported US stallion, Green Line Express.

Outside of horses my main interest is AFL football, the Adelaide Crows in particular! Really though I love almost all sports, but unfortunately with horses, spare time for other interests is at a premium!"

GAY ERICKSON (Victoria)
"Having started riding at a very early age, my career has been long and varied. My sisters and I trained and showed several different teams of horses all over Australia under the guidance of my parents Sue and Alan Clancy. I then trained under the expert supervision of Vince Corvi for two and half years in Queensland. In which time he became my mentor, and great friend.

After my successes, including Champion Junior and Lady Riders in all the eastern Royals, several Champion Ponies and Hacks, I decided to follow another equestrian path. This took me to eventing, on a small scale. I was lucky enough in this short time to win at Avenel and place at Wandin a few times on my husband Tony's wonderful old showjumper, 'Mr Gibb'.

Having realised it was time to pass on my knowledge to my young children, I decided to take a back seat in the competition arena. My role at present is support crew to my family, which I enjoy very much. It also allows me to compete on a casual scale in Campdrafting and Showjumping.

I also manage to juggle my time between teaching varied clients and schooling horses on the flat for Jeff Bloomfield. This is another new challenge and learning curve for me, which I enjoy very much. Over the years, I have judged Horse of the Years in all states and Rider of the Year in Sydney. I have also judged at most Royals. The most recent being in New Zealand, in April this year at Auckland.

I feel privileged to judge here at Werribee as it is such a fantastic venue and event."

ANN PATERSON (Tasmania)
" I come from Langford in Tasmania, and own the Home Vale Pony Stud and currently breeding riding ponies. I have shown and presented many Royal show champion hacks, galloways, and ponies as well as Horse of the Year winners. I have also judged at Melbourne and Sydney Royals, and at both the New South Wales and Victorian Horse of the Year shows. I also own and operate a Saddleworld store in Launceston, Tasmania."
