Royal Melbourne Horse Show - 6th January 2001
Highlights from the day

championriders.jpg (20647 bytes) Supreme Champion Senior Rider
Shelley Penny
She rode Manderville, who was also the
Champion Show Hunter Hack.
glavukabewitched.jpg (22979 bytes) Linda Hayes with Lavuka B-Witched - Daryl Hayes rode this lovely galloway mare for
Champion First Season Galloway
for owner Terry Van Heythuysen.

Daryl jumped off this horse straight after the presentation - and onto another horse - busy, busy!

hrcav2.jpg (18622 bytes) What a charming horse -

part of the HRCAV action.

hackgeraldine.jpg (23350 bytes) The proud part owner of
Erte - Geraldine de Malet

Erte was Champion
Champion Saddle Horse 15 hands and over
for the second year running.

It was a very polished performance by Erte and Maree Tomkinson - a well deserved win

Maree will take Erte to Sydney Royal and soon after the horse will be retired to enjoy a well earned holiday,  chasing cows and eating grass.

rider1214champ.jpg (26034 bytes) Champion Rider under 12-14 years
was Kate Hassell.

She rode the lovely chestnut Loyalty,
who had great success with Dianne Barnes.

Dianne is now campaigning the outstanding Arabian Warmblood stallion
Aloha Might & Power and she too had a great Summer Royal with him.

rider1214reserve.jpg (30452 bytes) Reserve Champion rider
12-14 years ... was
Kali Terracell riding
Chandler.
sh122uchamp1.jpg (22958 bytes) What a Pony .......

The delightful Champion Small Saddle Pony
Stanton Park Rave Review, owned by
R. Butler and Annie Coxon.

If my memory serves me correctly, this charming pony is out of Annie's very successful imported mare Tannygoes Pirates (hope I spent this right).

The pony was beautifully ridden by
Natalie Mirovich.

savonleighsherlock1.jpg (22145 bytes) Such a pretty picture

The Champion Saddle Shetland was
Avonleigh Sherlock, well ridden by
Olivia Centrone

lpmorningsa1.jpg (23626 bytes) A highlight of the show for me was the win of
Morning Side Step Ahead.  The pony is owned by Dianne Orchard, who has had lots of sadness in her life with the loss of her lovely daughter Joanne and also her husband.

The pony's rider Justine Jones said that she knew that Jo was watching and they did it her her.  I hope that this win begins a much happier year for the Orchard family.
