Final Report/Results Day 3 - 12 May 2002

Sammi Mcleod and Frederick Hunter showed a clean set of heals to win theSydney International Three-Day Event, by more than 12.4 penalties from Stuart Tinney and Ava.

Sammi only added 1 time penalty and went clear to finish on 38.8.  Stuart and Ava - running equal 5th coming into the jumping, did a great  clear round putting the pressure on Jessica Irvine Brown and Megan Jones. Unfortunately for Megan and Jessica each had two rails down dropping them down to 3rd and 4th respectively. While disappointing for both girls Megan made up for it by doing a great clear round on her grey horse Kirby Park Irish Jester that saw them move up from 9th after the cross country to 5th. Sixth place went to Claudia Graham on Diamond B Vogue - who unfortunately had 3 rails down in the jumping. The otherm clear round for the day was by Ryan Wood on Wonder.

The Final Day of the Sydney 3DE saw the sun shining and the spectators sipping champagne in anticipation of the final horse inspection. With Kadi Eykamp withdrawing her mare Izabella Rossellini after the Cross  Country, 19 of the 20 horse who completed the cross country were presented to the ground jury headed by Graeme McCrostie (NZL). The Ground Jury accepted 18 of the 19 horses presented, with Wendy Schaeffer's Koyuna Sun-Glo not being accepted.

Following the final horse inspection spectators and their faithful canine friends watched and participated in the jack russel races, before  making their way down to the indoor arena to watch the Junior Event Riders Show Jumping Competition - an AM3. This was then followed by another round of Jack Russel racing before Craig Barrett walked the spectators through the jumping track for the CCI***.

In memory of Robert Slade, Ron and Pam Slade presented the Robert Slade Memorial Trophy to the winner of the Sydney 3DE Sammi McLeod and Frederick Hunter.
