Talented Gisborne rider
Wendy Christensen lost her wonderful grey gelding Baldrick when he was humanely destroyed
after losing impulsion coming into the Triple Bar and landing on the back rail, fracturing
the left femur, at fence 10 at the CIC** at Avenel Horse Trials on Sunday 28th April.
Wendy and Tom Christensen are very good friends of Bill and myself and we are
personally touched by their loss. Thoughts are also with Wendy's parents,
Maureen and Gerry who are
great supporters of Wendy's dedication to eventing - a sport she and her family love
dearly.
I am sure all of our readers will spare a thought for Wendy and those close
to her ... in what must be a very dark moment in time.
This action (and out of focus shot) is my only file pic of the handsome
gelding taken at the 2000 Melbourne International 3DE. He stood an imposing 16.2,
and his beutiful dabble grey colouring made him stand out in a crowd. He was
purchased by Wendy from former Horseland Sunbury Proprietor Dianne, when he was a gangly
youngster.
Wendy has done a fantastic job to take him through the grades to reach his
current level of education. A horse with such a sound background and a very bright
future will be sadly missed by all enthuiasts of the sport. |
