2002 saw showjumping introduced into the program of
this event which means that "Dressage with the Stars" was not longer an accurate
name for this competition - rather than lose the identity of this competition -
"Jumping with the stars" has been planned to be a similar show for young horses
in the other important Olympic discipline.
Jumping with the star is the
brain child of Melbourne showjumping enthusiast, breeder and media person Jan Heine. She
has spent over 6 months planning the event to ensure that it will be embraced by the
Australian showjumping fraternity who will come to see this annual event as the place
where new jumping stars make their debut.
Jan not only spent a great deal
of time and personal ensuring that the inaugural Showjumping with the Stars is a success,
she was also a significant sponsor, and through her network of contacts, was able to
source the personnel needed to make the event happen.
an felt
that NZ Olympic Showjumping rider John Cottle would make the perfect riding judge.
She had met him previous and found his down to earth and approachable style,
perfect. Jan made the approach by telephone, and followed up with a trip to New
Zealand in early December to personally confirm the arrangements and finalise the
programming for the event.
While Jan was in NZ she covered
the Young Horse Championships and her report was read by lots of Kiwis who loved having
Australian interest in this competition.
Jan will be spreading her wings
in 2003 and plans to cover a number of the major European competitions for Cyberhorse.
I have featured just a few of
the showjumping horses that took part on Saturday 14th Dec. |
