Young Dressage Horse Championships
PSI Masterclass (by Invitation)  - Page 11

Performance Sales International under the Directorship of Ulrich Kasselmann is probably the most successful performance horse sales barn in Europe.  Ulf Möller is the Manager and the yard has 170 young dressage horses in work and a team of Beireiters working the in readiness for a sale which will suit their standard of education.  This system sees good horses sell for very high prices (in the Australian context) and it provides an infrastructure to ensure that the correct basics are taught to young horses in a professional manner with the day to day involvement of a more experiences master horseman.  This professionalism and the personnel to carry out the early training in this manner is the missing link to our way of doing things (I nearly called it a 'system")

Until we move out of an environment where performance horses are just a hobby for almost all riders and breeders, and somehow we can attract some big money into the sport - nothing will change and our best riders who have the money and/or the backing, will go overseas to source young horses knowing that the early selection and training system will stand them in good stead.

Ulf Möller Is a very likeable and approachable man and he seems to genuinely like the horses he was working with.  He demonstrated in the Young Horses Classes the ability no, gift)  to quickly asses each horse and hide in in a way that bought out its best.  These was no force or bullying, but a search to find a positive response and a way forward to mutual understanding.

The Master Class was by invitation only and consisted of horses the PSI had sold to Australia.  All 4 horses were a wonderful advertisement for Mr. Kasselmanns business, and I am sure that there are quite a few people saving their pennies right now!

The first horse to enter the arena for this very popular Masterclass was Lesley-Anne Taylor's imported stallion (from PSI, of course) Skansen Moet.  Moet is by Maurice (by Matcho) and from a Wenzel line mare.

He was purchased from Germany when he was a 4 yo and competed with success at the 2000 Dressage with the Stars, placing 5th in the 5 yo class.   The next year he placed 5th in the 6 yo class.  He was the South Australian Elementary Champion in 2001 and is now having success at Medium level.  In October 2001 he was second in the Elementary Championship at the National Dressage Championships.

This year Moet is proving himself as a showjumper winning first place at his first competition in the 110cm and 120cm class.

mcrubinstar1.jpg (19321 bytes)The second  horse in this Ulf Möller Masterclass  was a stunning bay son of Rubinstein called Rubinstar (Ollie) to his friends) he is out of the mare Elfenperle (Beach Boy/Elfenpaar)

He was purchased from PSI in September, 2001 by Ray and Julie Parmenter and daughter Haydee Wells-Parmenter.

Prior to his purchase he was a showjumper, but Haydee's trainer - Clemens Dierks, who accompanied Mother and daughter to German, insisted that he be purchased for Dressage, and that was that!

Rubinstar was taken to New Zealand to acclimatise, and in January 2002 he was moved to Clemens and Judy Dierks stables in Sydney.

Rubinstar started competing at the Clarendon Dressage competitions in August, and after some success at Novice level they are ready to upgrade.  They are training at Medium level.

Above and below:  Rubinstar (Ollie) and Haydee Wells-Parmenter.
This horse was purchased from PSI in September 2001 on the recommendation of Clemens Dierks.

On Friday the weather was hardly 'brimmed hat weather' but at this time of the year ... you just never know.  This stall had lots of 'factor 30' hats.

Catago Riding Wear always have lovely outfits - but better beware if you are over a size 10 as
I am told that the proprietor does not sell 'normal' to larger sizes as her gear will not look good on people who need these sizes !!!
