Young Dressage Horse Championships
6 Year Olds - Page 10 |

Peter and Caro Wagner with their wonderful collection of clothing and saddlery for
the
discerning competitor. |
 |
24 x 6 year old horses started this year - all
beautifully presented and a credit to their owners and grooms. The influence of imported
stallions, and imported mares ( it is sad that there are not more) along with the
availability of imported frozen semen from proven international horses is starting to
impact the quality of young horses available in Australia.
In 10 short years the number of
excellent prospects which are available to the keen competitor has increased dramatically
and most of the horses in today's competition were worthy of their opportunity to take
part. |

Above
and left - A'seduction by
Aachimedes and bred in Queensland by Bev & John Edwards from Jaybee Farms
This lovely stallion is owned and ridden by
Sally Evans.
Ulf said that this horse was nicely forward
and
showed a good attitude for training.
He awarded him 8.00 for rideability. |

Gracefield Fabian and Lizzie Fellows-Wilson
By Richmeed Medallion and from a Valuta mare. He has such a love farm but is often
not quite well enough engaged with his hind legs. They finished in 7th position. |

AnnMaree Lourey on Byalee Magic who is also by
Richmeed Medallion and out of Salute mare.
Richmeed Medallion has fantastic breeding - he is by May Sherif who is the sire of the
incomparable Matador and also Andiamo - both notable horses on the international scene a
few years ago. |
 |
Left:
Sunbury Lodge Playwright by Donnerheist and from a Balmoral Boy TB mare.
This lovely horse was bred by Ann & Ross
Smith and purchased by his rider - Judy Peel from Tasmania as a newly broken youngster.
He was not forward enough for my liking, but showed a great temperament and
aptitude for the work. |

 |
Welfenadel by Welt Hit ll and from a mare by Pablo.
This positively outstanding young stallion and another gelding were purchased by
Lesley-Ann Taylor (from South Australia) from Performance Sales International in
Germany where Ulf Möller is based in January this year.
His trot is sensational with
such expression in the knee action. It is very exciting to see horses like this one
in Australia. He was of wonderful quality but lacked a little of the polish of the first
three placegetters in this class. He was 4th and Ulf did not get to ride him. |

Mayfield Pzazz
Champion of Champions.
Owned and ridden by
Kerry Mack.
|
The
Champion of Champions was decided from the two horses which received a 9.5 for rideability
from the guest riding judge Ulf Möller . The chairman of the Judging Panel - Mr. Harry Boldt chose a most
unorthodox method of separating the two. He asked Ferrero Rocher and Mayfield Pzazz
to walk, trot and canter and after each pace he asked the audience to applaud their
favourite. The winner was decided by the amount of noise created.
As both horses - this was a great way to
choose and get the audience involved.
I felt that Pzazz was the correct choice as
he has the better walk.
Congratulations to Kerry Mack and all those
who have had a part to play in this lovely young horse's success. |
