| Hollybrook
- Accomodation (and 'the family') |
 |
While we are not set up to do this right now, we are
working on plans to allow horse riding guests to book accomodation at Hollybrook all year
round. Our convenient location is within 30 minutes drive from Melbourne Airport and 50
minutes from the central city, and yet we adjoin 25,000 acres of natural bushland which
will allow our guests to enjoy the best of both worlds. Dressage training 'holidays' are
our specialty. |
| At Hollybrook our animals are our family, and a very
important and valued member of our family, is LUCY the sulphur crested cockatoo. Lucy is pictured here in Autumn in her 'outside' cage with the beautiful
backdrop of ornamental grape vine. Lucy comes inside every night to enjoy her cuppa with
the rest of the family. She loves chicken bones and is always part of the
conversation.
We think Lucy is about 15 years old ( in 1999), and as the
Guiness Book of Records states that these birds can live up to 140 years, we will have her
till the end. |

This is Puck the poodle. He
is not the usual farm dog, in fact he is a 'child substitute (for Berni) He is much
loved and joins in everything He shares 'doggy' chores with his friends Rosco
(Flat Coated Retriever) Trio a three legged bitsa (German Shepherd
cross??) The two 'big' dogs were rescued from the 25,000 acre reserve that adjoins
Hollybrook. We love having them with us, as they really seem to appreciate their
'good luck'. |
|
We also have four cats at Hollybrook. The most
aristocratic of them is Bicky, a brown Burmese born in 1982, which makes
her now (in 1999) 17 years young.
Bicky is Bill's pride and joy and she spends every minute, of every day on his
knee (helping sort out some computer problem) or in bed with him. Bicky thinks she
is 'above' all in the Saunders family, and we often refer to her as Princess
Bicky. We have three other cats, Dirk
(named after Dirk Dijkstra at the Australian Equestrian Academy ) and the two stable cats Sergio
and Jim, who do a truly excellent job keeping mice away - well done
guys!! |
