Having taken a comfortable lead in the Grand Prix and securing themselves a spot in the 2010 World Cup Finale, all eyes were glued to the Golden pair as they danced their way to history yet again. Many believed that such a young Grand Prix horse had shown his best in Windsor, however Totilas once again proved to all that there is still more to come.
"It felt like a fairytale – all I have to do is to point the way and he does it," said Edward who maintains that Totilas is just a normal horse. "He is so easy going and hopefully he will stay that way but I do think he enjoys the attention."
The sell out crowd at Olympia were treated to an array of international stars performing to a wide variety of music and individual choreography… all of which made for a magical night of dressage.
The winners from last year Adelinde & Parzival were unable to challenge their dutch counterparts. Parzival was tension throughout and made sure his rider was kept on her toes, in what appeared a tough ride.
"Last night he felt really good and tonight was not the easiest but I never play for second and at least I was able to carry on riding him which wouldn’t have happened that long ago." Adelinde said after her test.
This second placed Dutch combination still managed an amazing score of over 82%, keeping them roughly 10% ahead of the challengers.
Third place went to the much improved hometown pair of Carl Hester and Liebling II. Their Tom Jones themed music provided the background for a test that was acurate and expressive. The English humour evident when Carl said „"After Windsor I didn’t really think there was much more to come but to gain another 5% is just great the difference is that Edward points his horse and I push mine." The pushing ovbiously working in his favour!
Having watched the first few riders of the evening, I was alittle concerned that the scoring was somewhat generous from the start… leading me to believe from the eary scores that there would definately be a super score on the board for Totilas provided all they could put together a fault free test. I was right, although you do have to wonder how long it will be before this combination get the 100%... after all he is only 9 and he has shown good improvement already in just 4 months.
