Exciting Times for Australian Hanoverian Breeders

Exciting Times Ahead for Australian Hanoverian Breeders

Forward from Janette Lewis

Please see the attached Press Release on the Elite Foal and
Broodmare Auction in Verden, Germany.  14 foals and 2 Brood
mares for Australia.

We must say a big thankyou to Kirsty Phillips - one of our hard
working committee members, for organising the "Importation of
Fillies" program.  14 new Hanoverian fillies and 2 mares to Australia
will increase the quality of our gene pool.

Janette Lewis

From Germany ....  Considerable International Interest!
298 Hanoverian Foals sold in 3 Days!

Verden Germany - The 298 foals offered at the 35th Hanoverian Elite Foal and broodmare Auction were sold at an average auction sales price of Euro 6,913.  Top priced foal was the Soliman de Hus/Falkland-son Sandmann (breeder and exhibitor: Karsten Asendorf, Morsum).

The chestnut colt with the dressage pedigree was sold at Euro 43,000 to Rhineland-Palatinate.

Canadian Marple by Clinton/Contender (breeder and exhibitor: Horst Zȍllmer, Südergellersen) was the most expensive show jumping foal.  A stallion raiser from Lower Saxony paid Euro 23,000 for the youngster.

Especially foreign customers used the auction to purchase top- class Hanoverian youngsters.  Australian customers acquired the biggest quantity - 14 foals are destined to enrich the Hanoverian breed in Australia - a quantity never achieved by now.

A breeder who runs a stud including training and show stable in South Africa purchased 7 foals, Spain 10, Great Britain and Sweden 8 each as well as Italy, Finland and Denmark each with 7 - also belonged to the 20 purchasing countries in total.

But also the German buyers appreciated the excellent quality offered at reasonable prices.  Thus, a buyers group from North Rhine-Westphalia bought 16 foals in total.

The broodmare collection included 18 Hanoverian mares.  They were sold at an average Euro 10,955.  State Premium mare Rania K, by Rotspon K/Davignon (breeder: Rolf Meyer, Wingst - Exhibitor: Julia and Tim Karrasch, Langenhagen) was the top priced mare for which the tender was accepted at Euro 26,000.

She will be used for breeding Hanoverian horses in Spain.

Congratulations to all of the successful purchasers.
