Lake Placid, NY - July 1, 2009 - Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, NJ rode Bradberry to victory in the $7,500 Farm & Ranch Magazine 1.45m Jump-off Wednesday at the 32nd Annual I Love New York Horse Show.
Chapot was one of 20 entries from the starting field of 35 to reach the jump-off round with a fault-free performance over the 14-jump, first round course designed by Show Jumping Hall of Famer Conrad Homfeld at the North Elba Showgrounds. She clinched the win with a clean jump-off ride in the day's fastest time of 33.079 seconds.
Two riders from Ireland claimed the next two spots in the final standings. Darragh Kenny took second place with a clean jump-off ride in 33.628 seconds on Obelix and Kevin Babington took third with a clean ride in 34.084 seconds on Capone 21. Earlier in the day, Jeffery Welles rode Umberto to victory in the Janney Montgomery Scott LLC 1.35m Jumper Class and Michelle Spadone rode Coco to the win in the Weeks Family Amateur-Owner Jumper Class. The I Love New York Horse Show continues through Sunday. Saturday's Fourth of July schedule features the week's main event, the $75,000 Hermes Grandprix. Prior to the Grandprix is the horse show's 17th Annual Doggie Costume Contest. All people with leashed dogs in costume are admitted to the horse show free of charge. The contest's co-sponsors, the Brown Dog Café and Wine Bar, A Placid Life and Jake Placid Doghouse, will present awards, to this year's "top dogs." Categories include "Best in Show - Local Entry," "Best in Show - Horse Show Entry," "Funniest Costume" and the top three "Overall Best."
