MINDEN HORSE OWNERS BATTLE FLU AND RUMOUR
The owners of three horses with equine flu at a Minden property in Queensland are also battling rumours and misinformation, which they believe are damaging their reputation as horse trainers and breeders. Owner, Andrew Stevens said he and his wife, Steffi who run a training and breeding establishment had been upset at rumours that the horses had attended the Warwick event and left early. “This is not the case. We did not attend the Warwick event,” he said. “One horse went to the Maitland one-day event with our working student and returned direct to Minden on Monday 20th August. This means that our horses had equine flu five days before Warwick. “The other two horses that tested positive on our property were youngsters and aren’t even competition horses. They contracted flu from the first horse. “We understand that there were 13 people who left Warwick and returned home with horses but we weren’t among them. “What is being reported is absolutely wrong. I don’t know how this information started. We are as much a victim in this sad situation as anyone else. The rumours are damaging our reputation in the horse industry.” For more information, please call Andrew Stevens 0407 571 236 Pamela Robson 0412 158 886 .
