Some more of the 2004
Garryowen class in alphabetical order...
Above and
below: Gold Ribbon ridden by Ms. C Knox-Morgan. A 19 YO horse
by Harbour Prince. They scored 33 for riding and 31 for manners and paces.
I felt that the bridle was not fitted correctly as the shank on the double
bridle was horizontal and not near to vertical. This would indicate
too much curb or the curb chain poorly adjusted to allow the bit to rotate
in the horse's mouth causing a bad look. I hope that the judges
offered some advice so that competitors can learn from the experience and
do better next time. Good luck.
Gold Ribbon -
Above and
below - Grazier and Margot Haynes from South Australia. Margot has
been very successful at this event with a wealth of experience bewhind her
immaculate presentation. She is the niece of 5 times winner Helen
Heagney and worked at Lyndale Stables for Vicky Lawrie who has also won
the Garryowen on numerous occasions. Margot sits nicely and did a
great job on the good moving chestnut. Perhaps he was not 'typey'
enough for the judges - but he can really move. Well done Margot.
Grazier
Above and
below: Lemracs Dancing Poet - the highly successful show horse
owned by the 'masters of show" Gary Beaton and Brian Scholes. He was
ridden by Briony Payne who has a great reputation for getting the best out
of her horses. He was a little flat - we all have an off day!!!
Briony scored 42 for riding and Poet 35 for manners and paces - so down on
expectations.

the once over from the Costume Judge Judy Upton.
Madison is
my 'perfect show horse' I just love the stiking 'paint box' markings and
loved Sharon's presentation. She was aarded 38 for riding and 33 for
manners and paces - so perhaps a little more forward with added expression
would have given a better result - the 9 YO by Super Fiesta has time to
improve and he may well be the 2005 winner. Good luck to all
connections.
