State Showjumping Championships
27 & 28
December 2003
In warm
conditions the SA Showjumping Championships were held at the new venue of
the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds at Wayville.
The first
class was the Senior D & C Grade where Kristy Bruhn riding MJ Wembly claimed
first place from K Broad and Solar Eclipse with Michelle Clark riding Belcam
Athena (pictured above) placed third.
The SA
Junior Speed Championship was next with St Elmo's Fire and Sarah Willoughby
(pictured below) proving successful (St Elmo's Fire is a previous winner of
the Senior Speed Championship when ridden by Greg Willoughby) from Randall
Jolley and Little Casper with Rebecca Stubing and Bradbern Bogart third.
In the Senior Speed Championship
Anthony Thomas riding the grey Brecon Double Take won from Kristy Bruhn and
Romantic Idol (pictured above) with third place going to Irish Moss also
ridden by Anthony Thomas.
Before the
afternoon program began there was a pony club event which was taken out by
Kimberley Charles riding Misconduct. Pictured above is Brittany
Colliver and Balena Cody.
The Senior
Grand Prix went to Kristy Bruhn and Romantic Idol from Anthony Thomas riding
Icon with Kristy Bruhn also third with Murph.
A large
field lined up for the Junior Grand Prix where Randall Jolley and Faultine
were too good from Lachlan Manuel and Rheingold with Sheridan Manuel and
Guinness third.

Sunday turned into a very warm day but
the showjumping continued with the major awards to be decided. Opening
the day was the 1.25m height Class which was taken out by John Patterson
riding Harry Morant from Ben Jolley riding BR Steiger and Anthony Thomas
riding Irish Moss.
The next class was the Junior State
Championship where Adam Metcalfe riding Maverick (below) was declared the
winner from three equal seconds in Lachan Manuel riding both Cut Loose and
Apricot D and Rebecca Stubing with Bradbern Bogart.
The Senior State Championship went to
the final starter in the class Anthony Thomas riding Icon (below being
presented with the Cup) with Anthony's second mount Brecon Double Take
placed second with Michelle Clark and Belcam Gambler third.
The final class of the championships
was the D&C Grade event won by Anthony Thomas on Charlie Girl from K Broad
and Solar Eclipse with J Johnson and Dance Academy third.
