The
top ten horses from the first two rounds were determined by adding the scores for these
performances together. The top three horses will be ridden by Isabell Werth - former
Olympic Gold Medallist, and many times the European Dressage Champion. Her riding
mark is added to the previous score and the age group champion was be the horse with the
highest score.
Moliere
- by Midt-West Ibi-Light 853 the bay stallion on some of the Kyra Kyrklund videos and out
of a mare bt Mongh 637. Ridden by Matthew Dowsley for Rob and Mary Hanna who
imported this horse as a baby. Moliere is a very strong type but lacked softness and
suppleness.
Isabell said that he needs more
suppleness and needs to come more through. She said the horse has a good future and
gave him 8.0 for ridability.
Greenoaks
Legend - the liver chestnut gelding imported by Clyde Wunderwald. He is by Le Beau
out of a mare by Wiesenbaum. It seemed that Isabell Werth did not want to get off this
stunning horse and she really put him to the test. She tried canter pirouettes,
flying changes (of the more balanced and 'correct' variety) and a number of personal tests
to enable her to assess this horse as a future dressage horse.
She said that she felt that she could try anything and
the horse has a real talent for collection. She said that "we will see him
again" ! Isabell awarded Greenoaks legend 9.5 for rideability, and her
enthusiasm confirmed that she enjoyed her ride.
Greenoaks Dundee
by Duntroon and out of a mare by Dobrock is a great horse and unfairly overshadowed by his
stablemate - Legend' He was imported by Clyde Wunderwald as a youngster and trained
by Heath Ryan who did a great job with him.
Isabell worked to improve the horse's self carriage and said that
she felt a weakness in the canter work - "he needs to come more through the neck to
achieve a bigger jump. He has a nice swing to the trot" Isabell commented
on his ease in the half pass - particularly left. She awarded Dundee 8.5 for
ridability.
